Welcome back! Today we did a "Challenge Packet" to review multiplication. Then we got our new spelling list (-ed and -ing endings) and had a Book Buffet. This afternoon we started listening to Fish in a Tree and did some writing about our Thanksgivings.

Today we took Quick Quiz 4 in math, then did some practice with word problems and multiplication. In reading we were introduced to "Conversational Moves," made our discussion rules, and then discussed The One and Only Ivan. Then we had computer and writer's workshop!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

Today we practiced possessive nouns and did more multiplication practice: basic facts, multi-digit, and word problems. Then we read the "author's note," watched some related videos, and read the children's book of The One and Only Ivan. This afternoon we continued writer's workshop.

Welcome back! Today we practiced 4-digit by 1-digit multiplication with partners. Then we finished reading The One and Only Ivan, had music, and did some writing in the afternoon.

Today we had Spanish and PE. We did partner-problems on the whiteboard and then took a Quick Quiz in math. We read a little more Ivan (nearing the end!) and did writer's workshop this afternoon.

Happy Monday! Today we estimated to get ballpark answers for our multiplication problems. Then we talked about consonant blends (ng, nk, wh, ph) in spelling, and read more Ivan. This afternoon we took a grammar quick quiz and did writer's workshop.

Happy Thursday! We had Spanish first-thing, then practiced 2-by-2 digit multiplication with partners. During reading centers, we revised our paragraphs about Mack, practiced drawing conclusions, made predictions about Ivan, practiced math facts, and continued reading. This afternoon we listened to some published pieces by classmates and then continued writing our own.

Wednesday, November 4th, 2015

Today we learned how to multiply two-digit by two-digit numbers two ways: area model and traditional. Then we read a little The One and Only Ivan and did reading centers. This afternoon we shared some published pieces and continued writing!

Today we reviewed irregular plurals like "children" and "feet." We watched the Drama Club play, which was great! Then we fixed our math quizzes, did some writing about Mack in The One and Only Ivan, and finished the day with writer's workshop.
